Press Release Body = Albany, NY. The Chairs of the NYS Senate and Assembly Committees on Health, Senator Kemp Hannon and Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, will hold a joint press conference on Monday March 26th at 9:00 am in the well of the legislative office building. Senator Hannon and Assemblyman Gottfried will be joined by representatives of the National Kidney Foundation to bring awareness of the effects of chronic kidney disease, its prevalence in New York State, and the necessity to catch this disease early. A major kidney related health initiative will be announced at this press conference. March is kidney disease awareness month and advocates will also visit the Capital that day to meet with their legislators to share their personal experiences and talk with lawmakers about ways to stop the growth of kidney disease in the state. Lawmakers will also be invited to take part in a Kidney Early Evaluation Program, a screening program that can identify individuals with early signs of kidney disease. Early detection is key to fighting kidney disease. The Nation Kidney Foundation of Northeast New York has screened more than 1500 people in the last three years.
